How to share your biggest wedding compromises

Just like your relationship, weddings are all about compromise. From what foods to feature on the menu to how many (or few) guests to invite, there are bound to be issues that pop up when you're planning the biggest day of your life. So instead of butting heads, digging in your heels and refusing to budge on your position, take a cue from these couples and meet somewhere in the middle.

The Dinner Style
"My husband tends to be more traditional than I am so he was really pushing for a sit-down dinner with the standard meat, fish and vegetarian options. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with a seating chart and preferred a buffet style meal. Ultimately, we compromised by having chef-run stations and assigned tables only instead of seats too." — Sloane

The Invitations
"It sounds so silly looking back now, but our biggest compromise was probably the invitations. For some reason, I was stuck on polka dots while my husband wanted something super fancy. After some serious research and browsing online though, we finally found an invite on Pinterest with dots that had a more formal vibe to it. We used this as inspiration and our invitation designer was able to create an elegant invite with polka dots that we both loved." — Lana

The Location
"I really wanted a destination wedding but my husband was opposed because he knew some relatives and friends of his probably wouldn't be able to make it due to financial and health reasons. To compromise, we wound up choosing a venue that was only a couple hours away from our hometown. It still had that destination vibe without limiting the guest list." — Kelly

The Guest List
"I wanted a wedding on the smaller side, only inviting our closest family and friends, which would have brought the guest count to around 100 or so. He, on the other hand, wanted to invite everyone he'd ever met! We decided to do a destination wedding and were able to invite a lot more people for this reason. He was happy since he didn't feel like he was leaving anyone out and our wedding turned out to have about 125 people in attendance so I got what I wanted too." — Carrie

The Bridal Party Size
"Initially, my husband was dead set on not having a bridal party at all, whereas I wanted to ask a bunch of my friends to be bridesmaids! He finally came around to having a few groomsmen since he was worried about the drastically uneven numbers and, after talking to some married friends who had big bridal parties themselves, I realized keeping it to five bridesmaids may be best for my own sanity and everyone else's." — Jenna

The Entertainment
"My husband was obsessed with hiring this band that played at one of his friend's weddings and I was adamant about having a DJ. We literally couldn't agree on one or the other so we finally just decided to hire them both! The band kicked off the reception and the DJ brought down the house for last couple hours." — Pamela
